Derrick Edmondson is an American saxophonist, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Along with Zac Harmon he contributed the song "Can You Come Out And Play" to the soundtrack of the motion picture, ''White Men Can't Jump'' (1992), as part of The O'Jays. In the same year he played on records by acts such as The Good Girls and Nona Gaye. The next years saw him in a very facetted career, in the first place as a sought-after session saxophonist, as well as an engineer, producer, arranger, composer and keyboardist for acts such as Brandy, For Real, Wayman Tisdale, Chante Moore, Monica, Alexander O'Neal, Kyle Turner, Deborah Cox, Jason Weaver, The Winans, Chaka Khan, Solar System, Ray J, Tevin Campbell, Miki Howard, Kelli Williams, Kenny Lattimore, Before Dark and 5 Star. He also produced and co-wrote songs for Jody Watley and Montell Jordan. In the new millennium he has recorded with Chris Standring, Elliott Yamin, violinist Michael Ward and has been a band member of the American Idol band of the 5th season in 2006.
